At Tandan Charitable Trust, we believe in the power of Education and Community-driven development. Our learning centres and schools provide Quality Education, Skill-building, and Holistic Support to children in remote and under-served tribal areas of Manipur.

Kangpokpi District, Manipur

Our flagship project, Tandan School in Sinam Kom, was established in collaboration with 11 tribal villages to provide quality education to under-served children. Built with sustainable materials and strong community participation, this school serves as a beacon of hope for 300+ students.

Chandel District, Manipur

Located in a remote village with no prior access to education, Tandan School in Lamlong was established through a community-led initiative. Built by local residents using available materials, this school provides education, boarding, and life skills training to children from surrounding villages.

  • First-ever school in the village, impacting 500+ children in the next 3 years
  • 62 students enrolled with 8 dedicated teachers
  • Boarding facility for 50+ students

Imphal East District, Manipur

During the state-wide conflict in 2023, many children were displaced, making it unsafe to continue school in a centralized location. In response, Tandan Learning Centres were created to provide alternative education programs, ensuring the displaced children’s education remained uninterrupted.

Kamjong District, Manipur

Located at the foot of the Kamjong mountain range, this school began with the community’s initiative to drive positive change in the village, through education. Beginning from the local, community hall, this school now reaches out to under-resourced children from 6 of the surrounding villages.

  • Established in 2004 with just one hall. 
  • Indigenous learning practices of self-sufficiency are taught & practiced. 
  • 260+ students enrolled from 6 different villages.

Ukhrul District, Manipur

The Lunghar School was established in 2003 by a group of visionary individuals from the village, driven by a shared passion to provide education to local children. The school stands as a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives, serving the vibrant Tangkhul Naga tribe in the picturesque village of Lunghar.
